BTW

It is very cool of Orbitz to send me email notifications of flight gate changes. Thank you, anonymous idea person and team of implementors.

This is too cute not to keep in here forever.

Too too funny!

Whilst waiting for some server stuff to finish running today, I was messing around with the new Google Earth 5.1.

Since Google Earth does the directions finding like Google Maps and I had clicked on some scenic points of interest like Mt Fuji, I decided to see "how" Google Earth would get me from my home to Mount Fuji.

I thought it would take me to the nearest international airport and fly me across the ocean... but noooooo.. that would be too easy! Instead I am to "kayak across the Pacific Ocean Entering Hawaii". Interesting, what I really can't figure out however is, WHY it has me DRIVE all the way to Seattle to launch my kayak! Maybe that is the only official "kayak launch" on the west coast? I mean, if I am going to attack the treacherous ocean in a kayak, I would think that pushing off the Manhattan beach pier would do just fine.

And for that matter, why even detour my way down to Hawaii and then back up to Japan? Maybe they think I need a little break after my first 2756 miles before I do another 3879 miles to Japan??!?! naaaahhh...

(make sure to view pic in full size for details)

2.4 miles this morning around Kansas City, MO. Tomorrow I'm going to try to head North and see if I can cross the Missouri River into the state of Kansas. Hey if Lewis & Clark could do it 200 years ago, I should be able to do it as well! (albeit by using a bridge and not having to wear a coon skin cap)

Psychosomatic laziness

Running is (forgive my pop grammar) so psychological. This past weekend I ran further than I heretofore have in my entire life. Tonight, few days later, absent an immediate goal or signs of peer pressure, I run a measley 30 minutes and my body is like don wanna! the whole way. WTF, body.

Internet is Awesome, Part MLXVIIIIXIXIX

While reviewing old bank statements, I found a charge to "LCBO/RAO". Unsure of what it was, I googled the term, and found a website that said this:

WELCOME GOOGLE SEARCHERS:
Your search probably brought you here because you were wondering what that LCBO/RAO means on your credit card statement. Don't worry it's legit. When you were in Ontario, Canada do you remember going to a Liquor Store? Yes. Well, you put your purchase on a credit card. Now get back to your AA meeting.

This exactly solved the mystery.

Anyone who is nostalgic for the past is a doofus.

Wireless Wondering

802.11-geek Alert

I just had to g0ogle to find out what the heck the wifi channel situation was. This dude's drawing seemed to be out on the boards, though it's wifi b not g, I'm sure it works somewhat the same despite any bandwidth issues.

802.11b channels
802.11b channels
granted this is b but i am sure g works similarly. 1, 6, 11 do not overlap each other. snarged from teh internets http://www.dslreports.com/r0/download/338225~e4d474791b2210586b4ae02cd1f62402/80211bchannels.gif

Brrr it's going to be chilly in Kansas City this week. I better dig out my warm jacket and toss it in the suitcase for when I travel this afternoon.

At the same time it looks to be a nice week back home in La Crescenta. No rain forecast and warm and sunny days all week.

You know, I really shoulda got one for myself too lol. Even our one year ols was begging to play with this car

Subliminally, we saw a real prize winning one this summer - the owner'd made a custom garage with a sliding view door from his den!
