"This is the official site about Jef Raskin ... creator of Apple's Macintosh, the Canon Cat, click-and-drag selection and other inventions."
The Zooming User Interface Demo
"The design specification calls for the left mouse button to zoom in and the right to zoom out. Unfortunately, Macromedia's Flash, in which this demo was implemented, does not recognize both mouse buttons so we have to use keyboard buttons, even though they are not nearly as pleasant to use."
What To Look For
"There are many goodies hidden in the demo. If you see some small specks alongside an image or a paragraph, try zooming in on them. There are images hidden in maps, and photos in texts. There are also texts in drawings."
Have fun!! (link is to info page, at bottom is zoom demo link, 8M flash page)

Re: very cool
That is really neat! I have been a fan of Raskin's since the early Apple Days.. (circa 1984!)
there are A LOT of really cool hidden stuffs in that demo. you really need to poke around and zoom zoom zoom, cause sometimes a speck really IS something huge when you get closer. this is really awesome and it's sad he never got to make more of it - though your 'zon post sure did seem like a resemblance
Yea.. too bad he didn't have that opportunity. Yea I did do the zoom all over thing.. pretty neat. :-)
Only thing his was missing was the video and sound. It would have been neat if say when you zoomed in close on the pipe organ pictures, you heard the pipe organ playing..
very cool
